How to prepare
- Give the sample in the morning, before your thyroid tablet.
- Take your tablet as soon as the sample has been collected.
- If you take biotin (vitamin B7) or a hair and nail supplement, ask your doctor whether to pause it before the test. Biotin can distort thyroid results.
Common questions
Why wait 6–8 weeks after a dose change?
TSH takes several weeks to settle at a new level. Testing earlier can give a misleading result and lead to an unnecessary dose change.
How often should I test TSH once my dose is stable?
Many doctors ask for a check every 6 to 12 months, but follow the schedule your own doctor sets.
